Along the Mekong river shores one will find many of these streetbars, which sell a variety of snacks (usually bought in the small supermarkets) and drinks like fresh coconut, pepsi/ fanta and their home made blends of different kind of fruit flavours which they mix with coconut milk, tea or ricemilk.
Bugs, beatles, grasshoppers and dried fish are popular all over South east Asia but in the way they are dry packed and sold on this foodmarket in Vientiane they almost look appealing!WANNA SNACK!?!

All over Asia the hawker stalls are really popular but the BBQ is in Lao thé number 1 especially when your craving for a decent piece of meat. You'll only find a very small variety of meat here but when you do it's DELISCIOUS!!
Big juicy chickens, chicken legs, wings and glazed pork belly bacon. All served with spicy papaya coriander salad. But also very popular in Lao is the mekong river fish, catfish and homemade pork sausage. Of course the Lao people use every little bit of every animal they kill so you'll also find lots of harts, livers, kidneys, chicken feet on a stick, in a soup or on your rice. 
Typical Lao food which can also be found in the northern parts of Thailand is LAAB. LAAB pretty much tastes the same as it sounds. It's grounded beef, pork, chicken, buffalo or fish mixed lots of coriander en green chilli served with a bit of morning glory or egg plant.
This is clotted pigs blood used to thicken or flavor noodle soup or rice porridge. Very rich flavor, but then again, you'll have to like it.
Embryo duck eggs can be found pretty much everywhere. In bus stations, during bus stops, on local food markets and on the streets. Very popular amongst locals but a bit weird when you see a 9 year old scoop out this egg like it’s an ice cone, hoping to find toy in the bottom.
Sweet stuff is rare on the food markets in Lao, but when you find them it is usually flavoured rice cake, sugarcane, whipped egg white homemade donuts and gelatine puddings.
These sweet drink can be found much more often. It's very sweet and made of rice milk, coconutmilk, tea, coffee and aloe vera.
